Why You’ll Love It ✔️
✔️ Distinctive tentacle-like foliage that gives a playful, sculptural look
✔️ Compact growth perfect for pots, terrariums, or small plant displays
✔️ A rare and quirky Alocasia that’s sure to be a conversation starter

Care Tips
🌞 Light: Prefers bright indirect light or filtered shade; avoid harsh direct sunlight.
💧 Water: Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy; allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.
💦 Humidity: Benefits from a humidifier and thrives in moderate to high humidity.
🌡 Temperature: Ideal range is 18–28°C; protect from cold drafts or temperature fluctuations.
🌱 Soil: Best in a free-draining, chunky mix of coco coir, coco chip & perlite.
🪴 Support: Not required; naturally forms a compact clump with upright stems.
🌿 Fertiliser: Controlled-release fertiliser is in the potting mix; supplement with liquid fertiliser during the growing season for healthy foliage.
🚫 Toxicity: We believe it’s not safe for pets or children if ingested, so keep out of reach.

A rare and whimsical Alocasia that brings playful movement and tropical intrigue to any plant collection.

Synonyms / Trade Names: Alocasia ‘Flying Squid’, Alocasia plumbea hybrid

75mm pot size

We get a lot of questions about how our shipping works, so here’s a simple breakdown 🌿📦

Our shipping rates are charged in bundles based on box space and weight limits.

As a general guide:
• 75mm plants count as 1 plant space
• 100mm plants take up the space of approximately 2 × 75mm plants

This means a box that fits 8 × 75mm plants will usually fit around 4 × 100mm plants depending on the plant size and shape.

Every product has an estimated shipping weight listed just below the product description. Please use this as a guide when building your order.

If your order exceeds one shipping bundle, the website will automatically add another shipping amount for the additional bundle.

For example:
• Up to 8 × 75mm plants = 1 shipping bundle
• Larger 100mm plants use more box space and may reduce the total quantity that fits per bundle

Alocasia Plumbea - Flying Squid

Arrived looking just like the best picture in the listing but started dying the very next day :( Lasted about 2 weeks. Every tentacle shriveled and fell off.
I live in Central NSW so perhaps it hated the weather or I did something drastically wrong. Such a shame because it's such an unusual plant with fabulous form and colour. I'll stick to hardier plants in the future.

Hi Kiffin,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. We're really glad to hear your Alocasia Plumbea arrived looking just like the best photo in the listing — that confirms it left us in perfect condition, which is always our goal

We were a little disheartened to see a 1-star rating, especially given the plant was healthy on arrival. It sounds like the sudden decline may have been due to environmental stress after transit. We had a look at the weather in your area, and Central NSW has been experiencing quite cool conditions — unfortunately, that’s not ideal for tropical plants like this one, which really do need warmth and humidity to thrive.

To give sensitive plants like Alocasia the best chance in cooler climates, we recommend:
Bright filtered light, ideally with a grow light to boost conditions indoors
Warm, consistent temperatures, preferably above 18°C — a small heater near your plant area can make a big difference
Extra humidity, especially in winter when indoor air can be dry

It’s a truly unique plant, but definitely one for those willing to create the right conditions. Totally understand your decision to stick to hardier varieties going forward — and if you ever want help choosing something that’s a better match for your space, we’re always happy to help.

Thanks again for your order and feedback — we really appreciate your support!

Such a weird plant!

It came healthy and happy. (it's current condition is my fault entirely)

Then I dropped it.

Then I watered it too much.

Currently it's in rehab. If you buy this plant put it in well draining soil. If it's moist when you get it don't water it. I'm still trying to figure this one out. If It dies I'm getting another one.
