Hoya Rotundiflora – Square Leaf Collector Hoya

Hoya rotundiflora is a distinctive tropical Hoya prized for its unusual thick, almost rectangular leaves with softly rounded tips and visible veining. Its compact foliage grows along slender trailing or climbing stems, giving the plant a wonderfully architectural appearance unlike most other Hoyas. Mature plants can also produce clusters of small, star-shaped flowers, adding another layer of interest to this unusual collector species.

Why You’ll Love It ✔️

✔️ Appearance – Thick green leaves have an unusual square-to-rectangular shape with rounded edges and attractive surface texture.

✔️ Growing Appeal – A compact climbing or trailing Hoya that works beautifully on a small trellis, hanging basket or elevated shelf.

✔️ Point of Difference – Its distinctive geometric foliage immediately separates Hoya rotundiflora from the more commonly grown rounded, oval or elongated Hoya species.

Care Tips

🌞 Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun can be beneficial, but protect from harsh direct afternoon sun.

💧 Water: Allow the upper portion of the potting mix to dry between waterings. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet, as Hoyas prefer good drainage and root aeration.

💦 Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity but generally adapts well to normal indoor conditions. A humidifier can be beneficial in particularly dry environments.

🌡 Temperature: Ideally 18–30°C. Protect from cold temperatures and cool drafts.

🌱 Soil: Use a loose, airy and well-draining mix containing coco coir, coco chip & perlite.

🪴 Support: Can be trained onto a small trellis or support, or allowed to trail naturally from an elevated pot or hanging basket.

🌿 Fertiliser: Controlled-release fertiliser is already added to the potting mix. A balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied occasionally during active growth.

🚫 Toxicity: We believe this plant is generally considered non-toxic to pets; however, individual reactions can occur. Ingesting plant material may still cause digestive upset.

Also known as: Square Leaf Hoya, Square-Leaved Hoya

A wonderfully unusual Hoya for collectors who love compact growth and foliage with a shape completely different from the ordinary.

Pot Size: 75mm
Shipping Availability: Nationwide

We get a lot of questions about how our shipping works, so here’s a simple breakdown 🌿📦

Our shipping rates are charged per box, with each box able to fit up to 8 × 75mm potted plants.

As a general guide:
• 75mm pots make the best use of space, with up to 8 plants fitting in one box
• 100mm pots take up more space, so a box will usually fit around 3 plants depending on their size and shape

If your order requires more than one box, the website will automatically add the additional shipping charge.

For example:
• Up to 8 × 75mm plants = 1 box
• Larger 100mm plants use more box space and may reduce the total number of plants that fit in each box

Gorgeous plant

Plants from Uprooted are always healthy with lots of leaf growth, but not too big for its container size which is good because you don't want a rootbound plant. This Hoya is no exception - it's just beautiful. Keep growing the weird green plants please Uprooted!
