Hoya Carnosa Compacta ‘Green Form’ – Hindu Rope Hoya
Hoya carnosa ‘Compacta’ Green Form is a distinctive tropical trailing plant loved for its thick, glossy green leaves that curl and twist tightly around cascading stems. Commonly known as the Hindu Rope Plant, this unusual Hoya develops long, rope-like vines that look beautiful spilling from hanging baskets and elevated pots. With its sculptural foliage and ability to produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers when mature, it is a wonderful addition to any indoor plant collection.
Why You’ll Love It ✔️
✔️ Appearance – Thick, glossy green leaves curl and twist into tightly packed, rope-like vines, creating a lush and unusual cascading display.
✔️ Growing Appeal – A relatively slow-growing, low-maintenance Hoya with succulent-like foliage that stores moisture, making it well suited to hanging baskets and bright indoor spaces.
✔️ Point of Difference – Its distinctive curled foliage sets it apart from traditional flat-leaved Hoyas, while mature plants can reward growers with beautiful clusters of fragrant, waxy pink flowers.
Care Tips
🌞 Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun can encourage healthy growth and flowering, but protect from harsh direct afternoon sun.
💧 Water: Allow the potting mix to dry out substantially between waterings. Its thick leaves store moisture, making it more tolerant of occasional dryness than constantly wet roots.
💦 Humidity: Appreciates moderate humidity but generally adapts well to normal indoor conditions. A humidifier can be beneficial in particularly dry environments.
🌡 Temperature: Ideally 18–30°C. Protect from cold temperatures and cool drafts.
🌱 Soil: Use a loose, chunky and well-draining mix containing coco coir, coco chip & perlite to provide excellent root aeration.
🪴 Support: Best grown trailing from a hanging basket or elevated pot, allowing its distinctive rope-like vines to cascade naturally.
🌿 Fertiliser: Controlled-release fertiliser is already added to the potting mix. A balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied occasionally during active growth.
🚫 Toxicity: We believe this plant is generally considered non-toxic to pets; however, individual reactions can occur. Ingesting plant material may still cause digestive upset.

We get a lot of questions about how our shipping works, so here’s a simple breakdown 🌿📦
Our shipping rates are charged per box, with each box able to fit up to 8 × 75mm potted plants.
As a general guide:
• 75mm pots make the best use of space, with up to 8 plants fitting in one box
• 100mm pots take up more space, so a box will usually fit around 3 plants depending on their size and shape
If your order requires more than one box, the website will automatically add the additional shipping charge.
For example:
• Up to 8 × 75mm plants = 1 box
• Larger 100mm plants use more box space and may reduce the total number of plants that fit in each box
